♣ FOTD & Evan Healy Product Review

Hi everyone~ I have realized previously I posted the wrong draft ><... anyways content is the same just more pics.

(L: no makeup. FOTD lol., R: base makeup)

I have always been interested in natural products and wanted to use them instead of the products I was using. Unfortunately, my skin is sensitive and I have had breakouts and allergic reactions previously, so I was extremely hesitant to try again. I read reviews and researched on MUA prior to purchasing the products. Most reviews were positive so I decided to give Evan Healy a try. I initially bought the Blue face care kit and the Tea tree gel cleaner to test how my skin adapts. After 2 weeks I am hooked and now using their entire line of skincare.

Daily Skin Care & Blue Face Care Kit:
This kit is designed for all skin and especially the sensitive skin, which was perfect for me. It includes the Lavender Cleansing Milk, Lavender Facial Tonic Hydrosol, Rosehip Facial serum (blue), Green tea clay, and the chamomile day moisturizer. The quantity of the kit will last you approximately 2 weeks; it's mini sizes. I am going to review each of the products individually, so see below :)

Lavender Cleansing Milk:
I think it smells like lavender, if you are not use to natural ingredients then it might smell a bit funky; according to my bf… I am a fan of face wash that lathers/foams and I don’t feel clean unless it lathers, so this is a big switch for me. All my foaming cleansers made my skin feel a bit dry after and all my previous milk cleansers made me feel too moisturized. I don’t know how it could be possible but this cleanser didn’t strip my skin and made me feel that it was clean at the same time. After washing, my skin feels like it doesn’t need anything else – shocking I know.

Lavender Facial Tonics Hydrosol:
This is a “toner” so to speak but not exactly. Similar to the technique of distilling essential oils, the hydrosol is distilled using fresh lavender instead of dried lavender, and the end result is water instead of essential oil. This is serves the same purpose as the avene thermal water I was previously using. It is to balance the ph level of the skin, but apparently the hydrosol also promotes cell repair, refreshed and tones the skin tissue on top of balancing the ph level. All I have to say is, the smell is relaxing and after misting my face with it, my skin is ultra smooth.

Rosehip Facial Serum – Blue:
It is stated as a serum, but it’s actually facial oil. It is extremely light and does not clog my pores. I applied it to my face after the hydrosol, then remist with the hydrosol for better absorption. The serum works to fade hyper-pigmentation, minimize and soften scars, and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps to balance excessively oily skin, minimize the appearance of pores, detoxify skin prone to pimples, and a whole a lot of other benefits that I won’t be listing... I don’t usually need lotion after applying the serum. This serum actually calms my skin down and yes… it smells like flowers.

Chamomile Day Moisturizer:
To be completely honest I don’t use this much, not because I don’t like it, most days I don’t feel dry so I don’t layer another lotion on. Stated on their site the lotion will calm and smooth sensitive, allergic, sunburned, and/or inflamed skin. The lotion does apply very smoothly and absorbs into the skin nicely, does not sit on the surface of your skin like many other “natural” lotions. I do think in the colder months I will be using this more frequently, I switched skincare when the weather was getting semi-warmer. Lastly, this is a great makeup base/primer because foundation/powder sits on top nicely and you have a healthy glow.

Green Tea Clay:
I have been a fan of clay masks since the Pur Mineral Mudd Masque (The Mudd Masque will be a completely different review though… later). Difference between the Green Tea clay mask and Mudd Masque is that the Green Tea clay is a powder you have to mix with water to create a paste versus the Mudd Masque which can be used upon squeezing it out of the tube. I personally like the Green Tea clay better even if it takes an extra step prior to applying it to my face, the mask smells like Matcha green tea (yummy) plus you can control the consistency of the mask. On the days that I need minor exfoliation then I could create a thinner textured mask, and you can even combine it with the Lavender cleansing milk to create a scrub.

Extra Products:

Tea Tree Gel Cleanser:
I bought this because I like cleansers that foam; it smells strongly of like tea tree. The cleanser lathers extremely well and leaves the skin comfortable, but I made the mistake of using too much and I did get a reaction to it. I had small bumps on my face that went away in a week or two. I must state that it is extremely rare for people to be allergic to tea tree oil though, sadly I am one hahahah. When I use it now I make sure I dilute the gel and my skin did not ever have a reaction to it again.

Pomegranate Repair Serum:
This is an extra item I bought, because it is better for fading pigmentation and hydration. I use this serum if my skin feels dry or after using the clay mask to give it more moisture. The serum is thicker in consistency compared to the Rosehip facial serum. Stated on their site the serum is to boost restoration and repair of the skin, evens skin tone, contributes to collagen production, helps reverse the damage of sun exposure, scavenges free radicals, and assist the skin in healing both new and old scars.

Whipped Shea Butter with Olive Leaf:
This item I originally wanted to give it to my mom, but I ended up splitting the jar with her. This is actually whipped raw Shea butter, it is not a lotion. Whipped Shea butter has the consistency of whipped cream and has fatty acids, cinnamic acid, vitamins C, E and K. You can use it as a makeup remover, mask, or a moisturizer – it is truly a multipurpose product. I actually use this as a mask at night; I apply it to my skin followed by hot towelling twice or 3 times prior to wiping the mask off with the towel. It leaves my skin oh-so-smooth and no need to use lotion afterwards.

Blemish Treatment Roll-On:
I honestly don’t know how this works or how it makes my pimples go away but it does. For those who think it is tea tree oil, it isn’t. Stated on their website the ingredients are a mixture of oils. I have applied the treatment oil on my pimples that are about to come out and somehow they just heal and go away. I can testify it works because it did the same for my bf. For him the oil stings but for me it does not, only if it was an open wound. It smells amazing but my bf does not think so – it smells like herbs. Amazing, because I never had a blemish treatment that can stop the incoming pimples.

This is just my experience with the products and I did have a period of adjustment. I have heard over and over again from dermatologists that the less you put on your skin the better for your skin. I have previously thought what kind of crazy person would want to put less product on their face; I want to help my skin and maintain it with the products. I didn't want to give up my products being too attached obviously and didn't realize that sensitive skin appreciates less products ahahaha... I did have pimples when I started putting less product because pores that were previously clogged needed to detox. Many products for blemishes puts a halt on the pores that are clogged so it doesn't develop into a pimple, but the problem is that pore stays clogged. When you stop using the product the clogged pore will turn into a pimple, which is why sometimes you think you are having a reaction or a product is giving you pimples. The situation I just stated does not apply to every pimple you get, it is just that for myself that was the case. When I started using less/Evan Healy products on my face, I did have some pimples or detox happening but that was only for 2 weeks now my skin is clear and no more pimples :) I can honestly say I sometimes go out without make up hahaha... I know that's visually horrible and my skin still has some pigmentation that needs to fade but no makeup feels really good.

Here is my morning and evening routine, I hope this is helpful~

Morning:
- Hot towel and wipe my face (just to get rid of... you know crusty eyes and what not hahahah)
- Spray Lavender hydrosol
- Apply 1 pump of Rosehip serum
- Remist with Lavender hydrosol
- Apply Chamomile moisturizer to areas still feeling dry

Night:
- Remove makeup
- Cleanse with Lavender cleansing milk
- Steam face for approximately 2 - 3  min
- Apply Rosehip serum
- Hot towel face, 2 - 3 times
- Spray Lavender hydrosol
- Apply eye cream

Night with Clay mask:
- Remove makeup
- Cleanse with Lavender cleansing milk
- Steam face for approximately 2 - 3  min
- Hot towel face, 2 - 3 times
- Apply clay mask, wash off when it's completely dry (approx. 15 - 30 min)
- Spray Lavender hydrosol
- Apply Rosehip serum
- Remist with Lavender hydrosol
- Apply eye cream

Night with Whipped Shea butter mask:
- Remove makeup
- Cleanse with Lavender cleansing milk
- Steam face for approximately 2 - 3  min
- Apply Whipped Shea butter, wait 15 min
- Hot towel face, 2 times with the Shea butter still on face, last time wipe off any excess Shea butter
- Spray Lavender hydrosol
- Apply eye cream

p.s. I basically do not use lotion on my face.

Wo... that was a long update. If anyone has questions on how I use the products or anything just leave a comment. I'll get back to you :)

Life update: I am using this GIF app, it's so cuteee. Plus I met up with Mei recently :)

Sometimes I put on makeup for no occasion or reason at all. This happens often near midnight...
On a normal basis I don't wear this much eye makeup, but when I do - I think I look like a gyaru...

♪ Last weekend~ Looks of two nights

I'm having really bad cough these days :( so I decide to stay home the whole weekend and watch dramas LOL,, so that means no looking nice for me this weekend ]:
Btw recently I'm following this drama 素直になれなくて Sunao ni narenakute (can't be honest) the story is pretty good and plus my favourite Eita and Juri!! It's talking about this group of friends who met on Twitter~ interesting I think~ I used to not like Tohoshinki so much... but one of them is in this drama and I realised he is a very diligent actor, and his Japanese is pretty perfect! Anyway I highly recommand if you are also a J-drama fan :P
Ok back to topic~ this is the Lotd for last Friday, I was going for a casual look since I was just going to karaoke & drinking with a few friends, lol hence the flats! I matched the outfit with soft mixed (inwards & outwards) curls with light and natural makeup, the eye makeup is quite boring lol.. I didn't even curl the lashes I think... hmm hope you guys are not bored of this natural makeup thing I always do... I promise I'll do more fun makeup sometime~~!!

Eyes & Brows:

What I'm wearing:
  • H&M purple top

Yes you did not read it wrong! ABC mart!! LOL! People who have visited Japan should know this store, it's basically like our Footlocker and it's EVERYWHERE~~ they mostly sell sneakers etc,, but I somehow managed to find this super cute silver sandals there 2 years ago,, and yes I still wear them now!! hahaha they are getting really worn out tho... T__T I have been looking for a substitute but have yet to found anything like this!! urghhhh~~~ Don't you just HATE it when this happens??!!

♪ New glasses look! + FOTD

I got new glasses~~ I lost my old one at our lab the night I finished my final project lol, I think I was way too out of it to notice anything but I'm glad it stayed with me till the project finished... otherwise~~ > <
My old pair was the black framed ones everyone owns.. I got so bored of it so I decided to go with metal frame which makes me look more like an office lady (I think, lol) I think this will be great for interviews haha~~ cuz I look much smarter and more mature :PActually I hate to wear glasses cuz I look sooo nerdy in them... so please be prepared before you scroll down . . .

Nerdy face with glasses... pls ignore the hair... = =;;

I can't really call this "Tip for makeup for glasses" cuz I don't like my face in glasses = = but I can share some thoughts on it... if anyone has good makeup tips for glasses please teach me~

When I'm wearing glasses it either means I have too little time to do anything to my face or I didn't sleep.. lol but at least I still have eye makeup in this picture~ but no matter how little time you have, undereye concealer is a MUST when wearing glasses because glasses, just like hats also cast shadows and make your dark circles darker! Another annoying thing about near-sighted glasses is they make your eyes appear smaller, especially the ones with nose pads (like the ones I'm wearing here) cuz the lens is farther away from your eyes than the plastic ones; so I always try to at least put on eyeliner. I usually wear noticable lipstick when I'm wearing glasses cuz they do make your face more plain = =

What I'm wearing
  • Zara sheer cotton shirt
  • Urban Outfitters ripped jeans
  • animal print pumps
  • vintage straw bag
  • my new glass :p

FOTD, my usual makeup and NYX round lipstick in Tea, a brownish nude tone :D

In conclusion... I prefer me without glasses,, lol

See you next time! :D

♪ FOTD, HOTD & review some recent good finds!

First of all thank you everyone who sent me your regards! I have recovered.. for a while actually haha~ as Ai said it's been really busy for us lately so I havn't updated till today, I'm waiting for a friend so I'm taking a break from studying and doing this update hehehe~~ I have actually accumulated quite a lot FOTD's to update but since I also took pics today I'll use the fresh ones!

My bangs is finally long enough to be styled!! I can actually curl them without them falling on my face now haha~ meaning my bangs now blends in with the hair on two sides after I curl them :D Although this styling is really pretty rough, because I have so little time to get ready now, I actually just curled the bangs and some strands of my hair with a hot curler; this is a quick tip for days you have no time to curl the whole head but still wanna give some bounce to your hair. It also looks more natural than curling whole head :>

Eye makeup is super minimalist and basic, as I only used one colour of shadow on my lid, I made sure the lashes are full and eye liner is light enough. Here I'm still using my all time staple shadow, Cezanne Sweets Sweets perfect eye palatte, the earthy one I used many times in previous post.

Products used on eye:
  • Sweets Sweets perfect eye
  • Guerlain eye pencil in Bronze Noir N.7
  • Clinique high impact mascara

Here I wanna share a good powder I have recently purchased; it's the Physicians Formula Mineral Colour Correcting Powder; I have only used their bronzer before but since this product promises No talc, fragrance free, paraben free and the line in general is for sensitive skin; I decided to give it a try. I usually don't use powder, because the foundation I normally use is the Mary Kay mineral foundation which is already powdery; but since spring is here I have been trying to find a powder to lighten my base makeup.

Review ( ♪♪♪♪♪ being the perfect score!)

-Coverage ♪♪♪♪
It covers redness and oilyness really well; what I love about this one is that you can actually rub a little of the specific colour area to cover little area; i.e I used my finger to rub the green powder onto my pimple to give it extra coverage. However the powder is not fine enough for my expectation; you can click on the image to see more clearly; so after brushing on the powder I need to use another clean sponge to press my skin to make the powder more fitted (? couldn't find a better word) to my skin; otherwise it seems powery.

-Colour ♪♪
At first I was afraid it's going to be too white because there is only one selection of colour; btw if you are the type that likes white skin this would a really good product because it does brighten you skin a lot! But since I only use a powder brush to brush a thin layer on my skin after concealer, it mainly brightened my skin without making me look a few shades whiter. Still I worry if I can continue to use this product in summer because I like getting some tan in summer. For those of you who stays white all year round (like Ai! haha~ :p) you can give this product a try~

-Lasting power ♪♪♪♪
Its lasting power is super good like a mineral foundation; even my Mary Kay still leaves me grease at the end of the day; but these pics are taken after I came back from school after half a day of sitting in front of computer, walking outside, going window shopping etc. lol~~ there is still some oily spot at my T-zone (I'm super oily at T-zone) but other parts are still pretty good

Pros:
Versatile colour correction, can be used on specific trouble area. Stays quite well throughout the day and does not seem powery; no talc; not irrating in any way so far.

Cons:
Only one selection of colour; can be too white for some skin colour; the powder is not fine enough so needs extra step to press with a clean sponge.

It comes with a kind of cute brush, which I never used... I use my own powder brush because this brush is too soft and thin.

How it looks on my skin after school; I admit I have already blotted my T-zone a little.. haha~~ but you can still tell how the powder stayed all day and the natural coverage, it really does not seem powdery. You can click on the image to view bigger size, I have left this pic very big so you can see very clearly :>
Wearing:
  • Benefit Eye Bright pencil
  • Covermark concealer stick in Y-1
  • Physician formular colour correcting powder
  • Dior show blush in Catwalk pink
  • Guerlain terracotta moisturising bronzer in N.3
On the side note I bought this very spring pastel colour from Sally Hanson Hard as Nails polish called Fairy Nice; after Ai found out about this super cheap line which has many nice colours! I put on base+2 layers of Fairy Nice+ top coat; it's exactly the same colour with some more expensive line's new spring pastel lines but only cost $2, when it was on sale :DD

P.S the video which we said we'll make will have to be postponed to after April 19th, which is our final presentation day; sorry about the delay and we'll try to post as much as possible during these days so please check back at us~~ :D

♣ Circle Lens Review: EOS Adult Brown

Happy "above 10°C"~ Weather is so wonderful this week, even with all my workload I try to walk outside. (slacking =_=;;;)

Me and Mei are circle lens addicts... hence the review :D

Info:
Brand:  EOS Medical., Ltd
Model: Adult Brown
Origin: South Korea
Water Content: 42%
Diameter/Base Curve: 14.0mm/8.6mm
Life Span: 1 Year

Natural Light:

Indoor Light:

Flash:

excuse my bangs in the pictures...

Comfort: 8/10
The lenses are comfortable, I can wear them for 9+ hours no problem. These EOS lenses were actually thinner than GEO lenses, but personally I still find GEO lenses more comfortable and less drying. I wore these lenses on a ski trip and they performed fine; no need for eye drops and other hassle.

Colour/Design: 8/10
The EOS lenses are not exactly brown, they can be perceived as pale/grey-ish gold or even grey if its a quick glance due to its light colour. Even though the colour is light you can see the transition from my natural eye colour to the lenses are quite natural and flawless (see natural light & indoor light); they only look fake when you use flash to take pictures. The design of these lenses makes your eyes look sparkly and glossy - almost wolf/animal like.

Enlargement: 6/10
The outer rim of most circle lenses are outlined with darker colour or black to create the illusion of larger eyes. The outer rim of the EOS lenses are outlined in lilac/light purple, so enlargement does exist but it is a subtle effect. You can actually see its enlarging effect in the above picture comparisons, but I would prefer dolly-er looking lenses. To show you what I mean...

Comparison with GEO Nudy Browns (L: EOS Adult Brown, R: GEO Nudy Brown):
(Natural)
(Indoor)
Nudys make my eyes look round and dolly~ (but less sexy lol.)

Overall: 7/10
I like these lenses due to its colour and effect, but I find there is one problem. These lenses do not look good without eye makeup, at least imo. Here is the proof:
Compare left (full makeup) to the right (less makeup). I find my eyes do not "pop" when I wear these lenses and they are in need of liner or heavier eye makeup.

(less makeup)                                            (full makeup)

(less makeup)

(full makeup)

Hmm.. What do you guys think?

I buy my circle lenses from Meigo Shop. They ship worldwide for free; service is wonderful and quick, tracking number always provided (if your impatient like me and check shipping status 247...).

*Side Note:
FOTD:
The pictures above with liner and heavier makeup look so alien to me... This is so much more normal, I don't really recognize the other me lol.
